A 20-year-old former student of the Tamale Polytechnic and resident of Gumani, a suburb of Tamale last Tuesday hanged himself at the Agricultural Forest.
Festus Akaniyili allegedly killed himself because he could not raise money to solve personal problems and was depending on friends.
A member of the church that he attended, New Foundation Youth Church told the ‘Spectator’ that the deceased on numerous occasions threatened to end his life if he did not get a job.
The source said the members, advised him against his decision and continue to trust God
The source, however, said Mr. Akaniyili’s behaviour had been strange of late as he was always quiet and kept lamenting.
Another source said the late Akaniyili associated himself with some people and believed it was bad influence that led to his death.
The Tamale Municipal Police confirmed the story and said they were investigating the cicumstances that led to his death.
