Former Ashanti Regional Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Kwakwa, and two others are recovering after a near-fatal accident on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
The trio sustained injuries while traveling from a campaign tour in the Asante Akim South Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
The accident occurred as part of a convoy that included Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and other members of the campaign team who were travelling in separate vehicles.
The convoy was returning from a tour aimed at rallying support for the NPP.
According to George Opoku Amponsah, an aide to Chairman Wontumi, the incident happened when Dennis Kwakwa's vehicle attempted to overtake an articulated truck near the Bomfa junction.
This maneuver led to the near-fatal crash, which left the occupants injured.
