A 32-year-old ex-convict who returned from prison in 2006 after serving a two-year jail term for stealing a sheep has been sentenced to another seven years’ imprisonment by the Juaso Circuit Court for committing a similar offence.
Awudu Bukari had been on the run since October last year after the arrest of one David Kyei Andoh with whom he conspired and stole a sheep at Odumase near Konogo.
Andoh has been jailed five years in hard labour by the same court.
Bukari who pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy and stealing was convicted on his own plea.
Police Sergeant Adu Ofori, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Mr Jacob Boon, that on October 20, 2007, Bukari and Andoh stole a sheep valued at GH¢40.00, belonging to one Kofi Sarfo at Odumase.
He said while Bukari had gone to Kumasi to sell the sheep, Andoh was arrested and prosecuted, compelling Bukari to go into hiding.
He, however, resurfaced on January 22 and was arrested.
