Four months after his release from prison, a 36-year-old farmer is heading back to prison to serve a 12-year jail term for breaking into a room and stealing GH¢25 (250,000 cedis).
Akwasi Asumadu, who pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and stealing was convicted on his own plea by the Juaso Circuit Court preside over by Mr Jacob Boon.
Police Detective Inspector Mike Fritz Bekoe presenting the facts of the case, said the complainant, Mary Kyerewaa was a trader and a tenant in the house of the accused person's mother at Agogo.
On August 27, around 0800 hours, the complainant left for town and returned hours later to find Asumadu in her room and raised an alarm which attracted other tenants to the scene.
The prosecution said after a close observation it was discovered that the accused had access to the room through the ceiling.
The accused, however, threatened to beat the complainant when she later approached him to demand her missing GH¢25 (250,000 cedis)
Inspector Bekoe said the complainant reported the case to the police and Asumadu was arrested.
