Samuel Eto'o says Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola never told him why he was sold to Italian side Inter Milan.
The Cameroon striker moved to Inter as part of the deal that took Zlatan Ibrahimovic the other way.
Eto'o was sent away despite scoring more than 30 goals for the Spanish side last season, including the opener in their Champions League final triumph.
"I was waiting to be told the reason why they wanted me to go, but there wasn't one," Eto'o said on Sunday.
"I never got an answer and I'm not waiting for one anymore. For me, it's over."
Eto'o achieved the rare feat of scoring in two Champions League finals, having also found the net in the 2-1 win over Arsenal in 2006.
He scored more than 100 league goals in five seasons with the Catalan club.
"I would never criticize a coach if another player is better than me," the 28-year-old Eto'o said.
"But it's what you do on the field that matters. And until there is proof to the contrary, I deserved to play every Sunday."
Eto'o now hopes to impress Inter coach Jose Mourinho.
"The coach wanted me for several years," Eto'o said.
"I spoke to him two or three times on the phone and it was easy to make my decision after that."
