At the just ended National Sales Leaders Conference held in Accra, which focused on the evolution of sales and marketing, the Chief Business Officer for AT, Ethel Anamoo, called for greater female representation in traditionally male-dominated roles such as sales and marketing.

Mrs. Anamoo emphasized the importance of women stepping into leadership positions and breaking into sectors where they have historically been underrepresented.

“Sales and marketing have long been seen as fields best suited to men, particularly because these professions were often linked to the role of the primary breadwinner,” Anamoo explained during the panel discussion.

“However, the landscape has changed. Women are not just participating; they are leading, innovating, and reshaping the industry with their unique perspectives and skills,” she added.

The transformation of sales and marketing over the past few decades reflects a broader societal shift. What was once considered a male stronghold has now become a space where women are emerging as key drivers of success.

Madam Anamoo’s advocacy for greater female representation is part of a larger movement to ensure that women are recognized and valued in these critical roles.

“It’s essential for women to take on leadership positions in these industries, and women who are in leadership roles should also look out and encourage younger women,” she continued.

"At AT, we create a workspace that consciously contributes to activities that empower women to not shy aware from taking up new and challenging roles through job rotation and mentorship events," she added.

Currently, the journey for women in sales and marketing is ongoing, but the progress made by leaders like Ethel Amanoo is a powerful demonstration to their resilience, talent, and determination.

“Our story is one of breaking barriers, shattering stereotypes, and laying a strong foundation for future generations,” she said. “This narrative deserves recognition and celebration in the annals of business history.”

As women continue to redefine success in these fields, their contributions are reshaping the way businesses are conducted, proving that diversity and inclusion are not just ideals, but essential components of a thriving industry.
