Michael Essien has been given the go ahead to join the Black Stars late ahead of the 2010 Nations Cup according to GFA president Kwesi Nyantekyie.
Essien has been out with a hamstring injury for about two weeks now but Ghanaian football authorities are confident he will recover in time to play a part in the tournament.
Nyantekyie told the Graphic Sports newspaper that Chelsea's medical team want to treat Essien in the United Kingdom before releasing him for the Nations Cup, something the GFA has agreed to.
He is also confident that his late arrival will not affect the output of the team when Ghana kicks off their campaign on January 11 against Togo.
