The management of E.P. Church Ghana is financing a year's health insurance premiums for 100 physically challenged persons and their dependants within the Ho Municipality at an estimated cost of 720 Ghana cedis.
Right Reverend Dr. Livingstone Buamah, Moderator of the Church presenting identity cards to the beneficiaries at Ho said the Church was extending its warm and friendly hand to them to reduce their burden.
He appealed to health providers to assist the physically challenged when they visit their facilities.
Mr Ras Boateng, Executive Director of National Health Insurance Authority commended management of the Church for targeting the physically challenged for assistance.
He said there was no reason why any citizen should die because of affordability therefore, the scheme had provided free insurance cover for indigents, those under 18 years and the aged in the society.
Mr Charles Agboklu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ho Municipal Health Insurance Scheme said the Church's initiative was the outcome of an outreach programme undertaken in churches and mosques within the municipality.
He said the Zongo community had the highest number of clients in the municipality.
