The Economic and Organized Crime Office(EOCO) will return the computers and files it seized from the offices of the Ghana Football Association(GFA) today.
A source close to the Crime Unit told Myjoyonline.com that the body has finished sifting through the files for the necessary information and are returning the computers and documents that were seized latest by close of day Wednesday.
Personnel of the Economic and Organised Crimes Unit (formerly Serious Fraud Office), Tuesday raided the offices of the Ghana Football Association and carted away documents and computers in what officials say was part of investigations into the FA’s finances and reports that the football governing body breached the country’s tax laws.
The seizure was condemned by officials of the GFA who questioned the motive behind such an action with some threatening that the action of the crime unit will force football activities to come to a standstill.
But the EOCO said it secured a court warrant, via an ex-parte motion to "search and seize" at the FA offices following the alleged failure or refusal of the GFA to submit documents the EOCO said it needed for an investigation.
Meanwhile officials of the Ghana Football Association are locked up in a meeting at Prampram to take a decision on the association’s next course of action.
