An entrepreneur and community leader, Felix Ohene Lartey has stepped forward in his bid to represent the Volta region in the Council of State.
He is seeking to open the doors to untapped opportunities and bring lasting change to the region.
In an address during his filing to contest for the Council of State seat, he outlined his unwavering commitment to reshaping the region's future by leveraging his extensive experience in leadership, entrepreneurship, and community development.
Mr Lartey’s decision to run for the Council of State stems from a deep realization that the region’s potential remains largely untapped.
Despite the region's rich cultural and natural resources, it has yet to see significant growth and development in key areas, particularly in the industrial sector.
He points out that while there are educated individuals in the region who are unaware of the roles and duties of the Council of State, the office must be used to address these gaps.
From 2021 onwards, Mr Lartey made it his mission to explore the workings of the Council of State and bring its relevance to the forefront, especially for the people of Volta.
He noted that many individuals in the region, including members of Parliament and local officials, face difficulties accessing key decision-makers, such as the President and cabinet ministers, to push for much-needed projects.
He believes that by fostering regular communication and building a closer link with these top officials, he will be able to expedite the development of the region and bring tangible benefits to its people.
Felix Ohene Lartey brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments to his campaign. Over the years, he has demonstrated remarkable entrepreneurial acumen by founding and building three successful companies from the ground up: Frohlart Company Limited, Sylfex Ventures, and SSE Ghana Limited.
These ventures are a testament to his strong leadership, strategic planning, and ability to create sustainable businesses.
In addition to his business endeavours, Mr Lartey has been an active leader in the community. He established and led a youth empowerment movement focused on skill development in the Volta Region and personally sponsored 80 students to further his commitment to education and community development.
His passion for guiding young people is evident in his involvement in organizing workshops and mentorship programs to help youth navigate career planning and entrepreneurship.
Mr Lartey also served as the youth leader of the Volta Presbytery Church and as the founder and leader of the United Volta Youth Movement, where he focused on uniting the youth for collective growth and empowerment.
In his speech, Mr Lartey was forthright about the need for a new approach to the region’s development. He expressed disappointment with the previous representatives of the Council of State, who, according to him, have failed to deliver significant benefits for the Volta Region.
"There's nothing that we can point out that was initiated by a Council of State member for the Volta Region. Nothing," he emphasised.
He noted the lack of industrial development, with rice farms and other potential agricultural ventures in the region remaining underdeveloped. This, he believes, is a critical issue that needs urgent attention.
However, Lartey is not making promises of immediate infrastructure changes or grandiose political pledges. Instead, he aims to use the office of the Council of State to bring the region closer to the central government, advocating for more investment in local industries and youth empowerment.
His focus is clear: prioritise the region’s human resources by creating job opportunities for the youth and fostering sustainable economic growth.
His message to the electorate is powerful and future-focused. He calls on the people of Volta to think about the future of their region and their children.
The current generation must focus on building a better future for the youth, who are the future leaders and workers of the region.
Mr Lartey believes that without a sustainable foundation for the youth, there will be no future to fight for.
“The Human Resources are dying, and when the elders and grown-ups fade off, there will be no one to replace us,” he warned. “We need to fight for them.”
His plea is a call for action to ensure that the next generation has the opportunities they deserve.
In a time when money and short-term gains often dominate political campaigns, Mr Lartey urges voters not to be swayed by financial offers, but instead to focus on the long-term development of the region.
He believes that real progress comes when communities are empowered through education, job creation, and the development of sustainable industries.
Felix Ohene Lartey’s candidacy is built on a foundation of service, integrity, and a strong desire to see the Volta Region thrive.
His leadership, entrepreneurial success, and commitment to community development set him apart as a candidate who not only understands the challenges facing the region but has the vision and determination to bring about meaningful change.
For the people of Volta, Lartey’s vision offers a pathway to a brighter, more prosperous future—one that is grounded in youth empowerment, sustainable industries, and strong ties to national leadership.
