The most coveted football league in the world, the English Premiership has debuted on Joy Sports on MultiTV with the live telecast of Norwich City’s visit to play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
MultiTV had earlier communicated the acquisition of the rights to broadcast the 2011/2012 season of the English Premier League in addition to UEFA Champions league, Europa Cup, Italian Serie A’ and the French League 1 which are already on the network. This according to the Communiqué is in fulfilment of a promise made to sports fans and viewers to give them a variety and exciting sports content for free.
With an in-studio panel discussion and live interactive texting, twitter and facebook messaging, the match saw the former Champions avoid an early blow to their Barclays Premier League title hopes but lost Didier Drogba to a sickening injury as they struck late again to beat 10-man Norwich City.
The newly promoted side looked set to stun Stamford Bridge when Grant Holt pounced on an error from Hilario to equalise and Drogba appeared to be knocked unconscious in an aerial challenge with John Ruddy. But Frank Lampard blasted home from the penalty spot after Ruddy was sent off for fowling Ramires on the 81st minute.
When the final whistle came, it was hard to find fault with Chelsea as their new sensation Juan Mata scored a fine debut goal with promising prospect Romelu Lukaku looking a vibrant, muscular addition and new manager Andre Villas-Boas securing another home win.
Football fans who called into the Station after the match said they were well pleased and are happy to finally have the EPL live in the comfort of their homes especially as it comes with the digital clarity that MultiTV provides.
The English Premier League is live on Joy Sports on MultiTV every Saturday from 2.00pm. Football fans are entreated to tune in and watch teams like Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Asamoah Gyan’s Sunderland battle it out for the prestigious Barclays Premiership Title.
