A Tema-based auto electrician, whose name was given as Isaac Amponsah, has committed suicide in a wooden kiosk at Community 12.
According to reports, the deceased was said to be 25 years old and a native of Dorma Mansa in the Brong Ahafo region.
The deceased, a caretaker, resided in the wooden kiosk on a piece of land.
According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Belinda Banini, the Community 11 Police Station Crime Officer, who is also the Coordinator for the Domestic Victims and Violence Support Unit (DOVVSU), some residents of Community 12, Tema, who claimed to be neighbours of the deceased, reported the incident to the police.
“They told me that they initially thought he had travelled to a destination without telling them until few days ago but suddenly realized a stench was emanating from the deceased’s kiosk,” ASP Banini told Daily Guide.
The stench, according to the DOVVSU boss, compelled the residents to find the source.
They said Amponsah’s kiosk was locked and a male resident reportedly managed to break a certain part of the deceased’s kiosk after realizing that the body of the deceased was tied to one of the woods of the roofing of the kiosk.
A report, according to them, was made to the Community 11 police after which a team was dispatched to the scene to examine and retrieve the body.
“His body has since been deposited at the morgue of the Police Hospital in Accra. We have commenced investigation to ascertain the cause of his death,” ASP Banini noted.
The deceased, according to her, did not leave any note to suggest what might have pushed him to end his life.
A Bible was however said to be found around his body, which was decomposing, according to the police.
