The Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has issued a stern warning against electoral violence in the lead-up to the 2024 General Elections.

Chairman Daniel Titus-Glover highlighted that the Council has implemented robust security measures to prevent disturbances reminiscent of Kenya's recent elections.

During a recent simulation exercise conducted by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Titus-Glover called on all citizens to avoid any form of violence.

He stressed that those planning to disrupt the electoral process should reconsider their intentions, as security forces are fully prepared to address any issues that may arise during the December polls.

Titus-Glover further cautioned against incitement to violence, urging individuals to reject any calls to engage in violent acts.

He advised that anyone attempting to incite violence should instead send their own children to participate in such actions, underscoring the need for accountability.

The chairman assured the public that security forces are ready to act decisively against anyone found participating in or encouraging violence.

His message aims to foster a peaceful electoral environment and maintain order as the nation approaches the elections.

“I urge everyone to refrain from any form of violence, anyone planning to cause trouble should abandon such intentions immediately as we are fully prepared to respond to any situation in the December Polls.”

“If someone tries to incite you to commit violence refuse and tell them to send their own children instead. Let it be known that the security forces will swiftly act decisively against anyone involved in violence.”
