Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has appealed to Ghanaians, encouraging them to engage fully in the upcoming elections warning against the risks of voter apathy.
He stressed that every vote plays a crucial role in determining the future direction of the country.
Speaking in a discussion with selected journalists, he stressed the importance of each citizen's participation in the democratic process.
He reminded Ghanaians that their collective choices at the ballot box would significantly influence the nation's progress.
The former President urged voters not to be discouraged or remain inactive due to any dissatisfaction or internal disputes within their preferred political parties.
He emphasised that choosing not to vote could result in others making decisions on behalf of those who abstain.
Mr Kufuor reiterated that democracy thrives when citizens actively take part in elections, and he encouraged all eligible voters to recognise their responsibility in shaping Ghana's future.
“When it’s time for election and because of some party rift, people decide not to vote, it’s a challenge. This is because if you don’t vote, others will and they may not vote to support your party’s vision."
“So, I will plead that as much as possible, we should not have the attitude of voter apathy,” he stated.
