Egypt and AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah will be out for roughly six weeks following an injury he sustained over the past weekend.
According to a statement released by the club, the Pharaohs winger underwent medical tests on Monday after he was forced off in the 58th minute on Sunday night against Lazio.
“The tests revealed that Salah has sustained Grade II ligament damage to his right ankle,” reads the statement from the club’s website.
“It is expected that the Giallorossi No. 11, who has made 11 league appearances for Roma so far this season and is the club’s third-highest scorer with six goals in all competitions, will be out for between four and six weeks.”
Salah was called up for Egypt’s coach Hector Cuper for their 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Chad, however, he has since been replaced by Zamalek’s Mostafa Fathi.
Roma had Salah carried off in the second half after Senad Lulic's challenge caught his ankle.
“We just hope there’s no break," said Garcia. "Tackles like that don’t belong, not even in the derby. We need to protect the players and keep them safe.
