The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the Ghanaian economy is rebounding from the ravages of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War.
The party said with the fast recovery of the economy, the hardship Ghanaians are facing will be relieved.
The party’s National Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah who said this cited the continuous drop in inflation as the basis for his remarks.
Mr Ahiagbah was speaking at a media engagement to climax a three-day training programme for party communicators in the Savannah Region.
“The economy is bouncing back from the effects of Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War.”
“Inflation is coming down very fast and with PFJ 2.0 food prices will come down significantly,” he assured.
Mr Ahiagbah added that “jobs are coming for the youth. The economy is getting ready to gainfully employ 200,000 youth in the agricultural sector.”
He thus urged the media to inform Ghanaians about the good works the government is doing in reviving the economy.
Already, President Akufo-Addo has predicted a reduction in the country’s inflation rate by the close of this year, 2023.
According to the president, measures are being put in place by the government to revive the economy and tame inflation.
President Akufo-Addo was speaking at a meeting with the Christian Council of Ghana at the Jubilee House when he made the remarks.
“The signs are becoming clearer and clearer, the very high rate of inflation that we suffered last year is coming down. By the end of this year, we will be looking at 26.7 per cent.”
“By the end of next year, we will bring it down to 15. We have to go down to the single digits,” he stated.
Ghana’s current inflation rate stands at 38.1 per cent as of September 2023.
