Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has stated that the containers reported to be missing at the port and linked to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) are not actually missing.
He said this is not possible because they must have had proper documentation throughout their movement.
According to Kofi Bentil, some officials are aware of the current location of the containers and should be compelled to disclose this information, regardless of whether they are currently in office or not.
He stressed that Ghana is not in a state of anarchy and insisted that systems and institutions must function effectively.
"We can’t afford to continue this anarchic arrangement," he concluded.
He maintained that accountability is critical and that individuals who possess information on the matter should be identified and held responsible. He further argued that in a properly functioning state, those suspected of wrongdoing should be traced and questioned.
Mr Bentil described the situation as an example of an unacceptable governance failure and called for a systemic response.
He concluded that Ghana could not continue to operate under what he described as an “anarchic arrangement,” and urged the authorities to take decisive action to resolve the issue.
