Easter dirges send congregation into tears

Many in the congregation at the Good Friday Church Service at the Elorm E.P. Church, Ho Bankoe, were driven to tears by funeral dirges sang to show the trauma of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ and the betrayal and pain inflicted on Jesus Christ as reward for the good he came to do for mankind. The dirges, depicting the pain of betrayal, desertion, irreplaceable loss of loved ones and the hope of reunion in death might have reminded many of their own pains and sorrows at the death of their loved ones. Delivering the sermon on the theme, "The passion and death", Cathechist Mrs Esther Malwine Edu-Yao said despite his pain on the cross, Jesus Christ spoke to his mother in a manner that showed how deeply he loved her. She said Mary like all mothers in such situations was helpless as she watched her son in the prime of his live suffering pain, humiliation, betrayal and torture and eaten away by pangs of death. Mrs Edu-Yao said, as it was with Mary so was it with many who have lost their loved ones in painful circumstances but the greatest lesson which Jesus Christ taught on the cross was forgiveness even to those who sent him to his death. She said death ought to be seen by Christians as an act of God for a divine purpose and those who suffer from it one way or the other must take refuge in God through the submissive example of Jesus Christ rather than blame it on others.
