Ghana Statistical Service reveals huge disparities in public sector earnings with the highest paid public sector worker earning 81 times more than the net salary of the lowest paid worker.

The details of the earnings inequality reports shows that the highest paid earner takes home GHS33, 855 while the lowest paid worker gets GHS418. The data indicates the lowest paid worker earns only 1.2% of what the highest paid worker takes home.

The report also  revealed a vast difference in payrolls with the average salary of workers on the highest payroll, earning 14 times more than workers on the lowest payroll. Public sector workers on the highest payroll earned an average of GHS22,925 while those on the lowest payroll earned  GHS1,619.

It was discovered that the top 10% of public sector workers earn 82% of the total earnings of the bottom 40%. Meaning If the bottom 40%  is earning a total of GHS10,000, what the top 10% earn is GHS 8,200.
