A 24-year-old driver's mate has been remanded by the magistrate's court at Mankranso for stealing 25 gallons of diesel valued at 92.50 Ghana cedis at Attakrom in the Ahafo Ano South District.
Misbawo Issaka, also called Angola, pleaded not guilty and will reappear on July 17.
Police Inspector Abraham Agyei Mensah told the court presided over by Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on June 9 this year, Abdul Rahman Mohammed, the complainant detected the theft from his pumping scale.
He said when the complainant raised the alarm, one Anthony a witness told him that at about 0600 hours that day, the accused was spotted by the road side with three drums of diesel and was stopping a vehicle to convey it to Kumasi.
A report was made to the police at Mankranso and during interrogation after his arrest the accused admitted the offence.
