Salifu Haruna, a driver from Essuekyir near Cape Coast has been fined 960,000 cedis for traffic offences by a district magistrate's court at Twifo Praso.
Haruna who pleaded guilty to neglect of traffic sign post, and picking up passengers at unauthorized places will go to prison for six months if he fails to pay the fine.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector George Okine told the court presided over by Seth Bio-Nyamekye that on June 4, 2007, Haruna was arrested and handed over to the police by personnel of the GPRTU for picking up passengers at places, where no parking and no stopping sign posts have been erected.
