Dreams keeper Philemon McCarthy became the first goalkeeper to score in this season’s league as his long goal kick found the back of the net to open the scoring for his side in their 2-0 victory over New Edubiase.
McCarthy, who is a trainee Feyenoord Academy, now WAFA is no stranger with the ball at his feet and his intended restart took Edubiase keeper Benjamin Mensah by surprise.
The former Hearts keeper, who has reunited with former keeper Abubakar Damba, was signed during the second transfer window after leaving WAFA SC where he was down the pecking order to Razak Abalora.
McCarthy is only making his second appearance for the league debutants after an impressive debut against Hearts last Sunday.
He currently is the number one of the club replacing Mozart Adjetey.
