Renowned sports consultant, Dr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, has stated his desire for Ghana to actively lobby to get its citizens on the board of global sporting bodies.
According to him, the more Ghanaians occupy these positions, the better the chances of our agenda being pushed.
Speaking at Joy Sports maiden dialogue, the former director of the National Sports Council lamented on the lack of Ghanaians at these international bodies.
However, Dr. Ansah stated Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi is currently the only Ghanaian on the list of international commissions and expressed his desire for Nyantakyi to go far at Fifa.
“I looked through all the commissions in the international sports federations and I saw only one name; Kwesi Nyantakyi. He is a member of one of the committees of FIFA and he is the only Ghanaian and I pray that the maintain.”
“He has the potential and capacity to become a member of FIFA. It is sad news that we don’t have any representative.”
The theme of the leadership dialogue was 'finding a permanent solution to the funding problems in the sports sector'.
