The respected Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Kwaku Group and Ghana's former Honorary Consular to Tanzania, Dr. Ken Kwaku has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Ghana CEO Awards held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.
This recognition is in respect of his stunning leadership qualities and exceptional dedication to serve across the globe, and also for being a respected personality advocating for best business practices.
Dr. Ken Kwaku is an international investment and corporate governance expert. In 2013 he was nominated together with the late President of Ghana, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills for the Africa Achievers Award. This recognition stemmed from his track record in the area of business development and the unearthing of leadership potentials across Africa. He was a special adviser to the former Tanzanian president, H.E. Benjamin Mkapa.
The 2nd edition of the Ghana CEO Awards was on the theme; "The Role of Business Leadership Towards Achieving the SDGS in Ghana.”
The platform seeks to identify, honour and celebrate a cross-section of the nation’s most influential and accomplished CEOs who are making a significant impact towards achieving the SDGS in Ghana.
The award is a significant accolade that celebrates exceptional achievements in business, leadership, innovation, and economic contributions. This distinction is granted to individuals and organizations that exemplify outstanding practices, visionary leadership, and a resolute commitment to nurturing economic growth and business development.
Addressing the media after receiving the all-important award, Dr. Ken Kwaku expressed profound gratitude to his family, employees and everyone who has given him the opportunity to be of service to them. According to him, this achievement reflects his commitment to delivering the highest standards in all spheres of work throughout his years of service.
"I am extremely grateful for such honour. This is really beautiful and I appreciate it so much. I dedicate this milestone to my family, friends and cherished clients whom I have served tirelessly over the years", he said.
The event was attended by dignitaries including the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Harriet Thompson, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.R.M King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the King of the Ga state, Mark Okraku-Mantey, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, H. E Charles Abani, United Nations Resident Coordinator, Ghana, H. E Javier Guitierrez Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, and several other dignitaries.
About Dr. Ken Kwaku
Dr. Ken Kwaku is an International Business Consultant and served as Special Advisor to the government of Tanzania, several African countries and corporations throughout the world.
He has also worked in the World Bank Group in various capacities between 1976 and 2004. Within the World Bank Group, he served as Global Program Manager, Senior Country and Loan Officer and World Bank Resident Representative in Tanzania. He was the first Director for Africa for the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) of the World Bank Group among other key roles.
He was a stakeholder and Board Chairman of Bayport Financial Services in Tanzania. Dr. Ken Kwaku received his Education from Achimota School, McGill University, University of Toronto where he was awarded the commonwealth Scholarship for Canada and Harvard Business School.
Dr. Kwaku served as Ghana's Honorary Consular to Tanzania from 2007 to 2022, and is currently Tanzania’s Honorary Consular in Ghana.
