Public Relations Officer of DOVVSU, Inspector Irene Oppong, says the parents of a 12-year-old girl who exposed her to harm would be prosecuted.
Janet Armah, known in her neighbourhood as Adaklu, was found lying helplessly at a car park near UNIBANK on the Lapaz motorway with a basin full of tubers of yam.
The little girl had to be given food before she could speak, witnesses said.
Narrating her ordeal to Joy News’ Yaa Asamoah, Adaklu said her mother has been abusing her.
Adaklu said her mother hit her leg with a stick when she refused to go and hawk a basketful of yams.
The little girl had complained to her mother that she was too tired to go out and sell. But the parent would not understand.
But Mrs Oppong said police will take custody of the girl who is considered a victim of child labour and domestic violence.
