The National Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is asking Ghanaians not to vote for a president who wants the youth to be Okada riders for life.

Sammi Awuku said, Mr Mahama given the opportunity to serve as a President and Vice President, couldn't prove himself to be a leader who had the interest of Ghanaians at heart.

According to him, it will, therefore, be suicidal for Ghanaians to be swayed by the former President's promises of 'heaven on earth' ahead of the general elections.

"The NDC is not even able to organise people from their boat to show a greater interest in what they are doing.

"Even the former President feels that there are a lot of things going wrong in the boat that Mr. Mahama is paddling. But we are determined and we have brought everybody on board and the party is solid and united."

Speaking at the campaign launch of the NPP at the New Juaben South Constituency, Sammi Awuku said John Mahama out of frustration is promising to legalise Okada business, despite labeling it as illegal during his tenure.

"Nobody can be an Okada rider till 50 years or 55 years and the teeming youth need sustainable jobs and that is what President Akufo-Addo is providing.

"Mr. Mahama made Okada business illegal but the NPP in 2016 brought its own set of programs including industrialization of Ghana, and other sustainable forms of livelihoods.

"So I was looking forward to a debate on the alternative to the NPP, that is the NDC coming up with a set of programs and policies that will give me and the rest of the youth hope, not a President telling me that 'vote for me and when I come, I want you to be an Okada driver for life."

On his part, the NPP's Parliamentary Candidate for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi also touted the works of the Akufo-Addo led government within and beyond his constituency.

According to him, residents of Koforidua will soon benefit from a 100-bed capacity hospital which will bring healthcare delivery closer to them.

While stating job creation and employment as issues to be addressed in his first term, Mr. Baafi said some major communities and town roads will also witness a facelift.

"We have an eleven point developmental agenda in 4-years and one of them is jobs.

"I see developing my area as an obligation and that is why I started this long ago. The mission is on and we are going to create opportunities for people.

"So that those in the public sector who have not seen improvement in their corporate lives will see it," he said.
