Dr. Don Arthur, Chairman of the Executive Asset committee of the Transitional team has dismissed criticisms that it is witch-hunting past government officials involved in the Ghana@50 celebrations.
According to him, the committee would not renege on its responsibility to ensure that the state’s assets are in good condition.
The committee has come under criticisms in its handling of an interim audit report on the Ghana @50 celebrations, with Dr. Wereko-Brobby, head of the Ghana@50 Secretariat calling it a Kangaroo Court.
Former Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani, has also lashed out at the committee and the Auditor General, accusing them of unprofessional conduct.
But in a reaction, Dr. Arthur told newsmen on Wednesday the committee was only doing its duties as mandated by the new administration.
“The committee members are not kangaroos, and there is no kangaroo court here,” he stressed.
Dr. Arthur said whatever action was taken by the committee was in the best interest of the country, and should not be misconstrued as public persecution of past appointees.
He cautioned against the increasing politicization of activities of the transition team, adding it would not be in the interest of the country.
Dr. Arthur further alleged there were “dark areas” which the committee would look into and subsequently bring its findings into public domain.
