A Counseling Psychologist has argued against descriptions which capture women as complicated or complex.

According to Bishop Fred Korankye-Mensah, the tag which carries pejorative connotations also has mental health implications.

“I think we should break the stereotype,” he pointed out, “once we think a woman is complicated if she has genuine mental health issues she might even not seek help. This is because she thinks it is one of the complications society has put on me,” he said on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Friday.

Korankye-Mensah holds that people who say women are different are merely comparing them to men and pointing out the differences.

But being different does not make you complex, it rather makes you unique and beautiful.

“I do not think women are complicated per se. It is just their make. For instance when you look at the brain of women, although it is 8-10 % smaller than that of a man, you will realise that it is more complex.

“It is the reason women communicate differently, it is the reason women love differently [and] process information differently. So if we understand their make, if we are empathetic with them, there should not be a problem,” he argued.

Korankye-Mensah believes these difference between men and women must be identified and celebrated.

Pointing out some of these differences, he said it goes back to creation.

Man, he argued, was formed from the dust of the earth but not so with women. She was built with the rib of a man.

Again, the difference manifests in the way men and women love.

Women love with their heart but men mostly with their head, the pastor and Psychologist said.

A woman will access her potential man through physical qualities and also inner qualities like personality traits and these take time, he pointed out.

“Once a woman is in love she is indeed in love, and she loves with her heart and she loves with her emotions,” he added.

On the other hand, men fall in love quickly. Men experience love at first sight phenomenon. The way they fall in love is the same way they fallout, he remarked.
