The government has dismissed claims that debts owed GN Saving and Loans is responsible for the company’s financial difficulties.
A statement from the Information Ministry quoted the Bank of Ghana’s claim that the management of the institution is responsible for its challenges.
“The deliberate attempt to draw in government and President Akufo-Addo into the insolvency problems of GN Savings and Loans is totally unwarranted, unfortunate and without any substance,” the Ministry wrote.

The statement comes in reaction to a purported press conference at Elmina in the Central Region by aggrieved customers of the savings and loans company.
The said customers reportedly accused the government and the president of complicity in the failure of GN and other 23 savings and loans company closed by the BoG.
