Black Stars Midfielder Dede Ayew has donated some 4,000 hand sanitizers, 25 sets of handwashing bins, tissues among others to the Tamale Metropolis as his contribution to combating the COVID 19 outbreak in the country.
The items were distributed to bus terminals, chief palaces and some communities in the Metropolis.
Speaking to Myjoyonline.com on behalf of Dede Ayew, Alhassan Abdul Razak said the initiative was to support the less privileged and was also to educate the people on the coronavirus pandemic which is ravaging the world.
He indicated that Swansea City winger believed that everyone has a responsibility to play in ending the spread of the dreadful virus.
He, therefore, asked residents to adhere to the precautionary measures preached by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
He stressed the virus does not discriminate because celebrities and people in power are being affected and called on citizens to support in their own small way towards the fight.
Noting that the coronavirus has hauled every activity in the world currently and that is having an impact on everybody.
Mr Abdul Razak promised that soap and hand sanitizers will be replenished until the pandemic is under control.
He further charged the managers of bus terminals to take care of the items and ensure that people utilise it to contain the spread of the virus.
Speaking on behalf of the bus operators, Ghana Private Road Transport Union Secretary for the Sankpagla station Haruna Saaka thanked the Black Star captain for such thoughtful gifts especially in these critical times.
“We will make sure that every passenger wash their hands before they enter these buses.”
