The District Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Mr. Appiah Kubi Baidoo, was at the weekend elected unopposed as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Sefwi Akontombra constituency for the 2008 elections.
He was declared unopposed when the other contestant, Mr. Atta Boamah, a former Chairman of the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency of NPP, withdrew his candidature.
Addressing the delegates Mr. Kwesi Blay, the Deputy Western Regional Minister, called on sympathizers and supporters of the party to support Mr. Baidoo to wrestle the constituency seat from the National Democratic Party (NDC).
He said the NPP would surely win the constituency seat and urged members of the party in the constituency to campaign hard for him.
Mr. Paul Damuah, a member of the Council of State, urged members of the party to step up their membership drive in order to make victory possible in the 2008 elections.
He said the constituency was dear to his heart and he would assist the party to win the seat.
Mr. Kojo Acquah, the Regional Organiser, said the party intended to consolidate the 12 seats it won in 2004 and capture more seats from the NDC.
He advised the members to avoid complacency and work hard to ensure victory in the 2008 elections.
Mr. Baidoo thanked the delegates for their support and urged them to unite and maintain peace.
