The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Nsoh Amoah has ordered a halt to work on the Bolgatanga Central Market re-development project for poor quality work.
He gave the order when he conducted newsmen round to inspect the progress of work.
It was observed that most of the work was done without the supervision of qualified technical personnel and could constitute a death trap to users.
The project was initiated in 2002 under which traders were allocated spaces to develop prototype structures on “build, operate and transfer” basis.
Work was however being done without supervision by the technical staff of the municipal assembly.
Mr Amoah who was accompanied by K. Anderson, Municipal Engineer also ordered the demolition of unauthorized structures at the site as part of the decongestion exercise.
