Nigerian artiste Davido says unveiling Chioma Rowland as his girlfriend in the music video for his 2018 hit song 'Assurance' strained their relationship.
According to him, they were having the best time of their lives until Chioma and her parents went from being private persons to public individuals.
He explained that the mother of his son and her parents received thousands of hate messages and texts from strangers.
“It was like everybody’s relationship and business...then I realised people don’t like something good," Davido said in an interview with NDANI TV.
The 'FEM' hitmaker stated that they began to have more issues and he felt pressured to marry her then.
Davido stated that they later decided against it adding they need to have a solid foundation before tying the knot.
The singer believes it is for the better to make their own path than follow the populace.
"At the end of the day, it’s between both of us and our families," he added.
