Kotoko head coach David Duncan has urged State Insurance Company, sponsors of the SWAG Cup, to award him a miniature trophy of the SWAG Cup after winning the trophy for a third time as coach.
Duncan won the trophy, his first with Kotoko, after Eric Donkor scored a sublime free kick late into stoppage time.
The former Hearts coach had won this same trophy on two occasions with the defeated side Ashantigold in 2006 and 2009 and felt his latest triumph deserved recognition.
“I know I can’t keep this trophy since it must be going round. But since I have won it on three occasions, I think SIC and SWAG must get me a miniature one for keeps,” Duncan said after the game.
“I won it in the 2006 with Ashgold in the finals against Kumasi Asante Kotoko and in 2009 in the finals against Hearts of Oak. So they must really consider that,” he added.
This trophy will serve as a form of respite for Duncan who had already lost two finals in his eight month spell at Kotoko having lost to Medeama and Ashantigold in the FA Cup and Otumfour Cup respectively.
