In an unexpected turn of events on Monday, December 18, Parliament experienced a moment of drama as the Chamber was plunged into darkness due to a brief interruption in power supply.
The Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, was in the midst of suggesting ways to ensure timely preparation and submission of reports when the chamber suddenly went dark.
The unexpected blackout prompted loud laughter from the Minority side.
Seizing the opportunity to inject humour, Samuel Nartey George, the Ningo-Prampram MP, teased the government, exclaiming, “You'll have to explain that.”
In response, the Majority Chief Whip retorted, “This is far better than what we experienced under your tenure.”
He added, “What is your problem? This is far better than what we experienced under you, Sam George.”
The exchange of banter lightened the mood in the darkened chamber during the unexpected power outage.
