Business tycoon and leader of the EGLE Party, Danny Ofori-Attah has been reported dead in Accra.
Danny passed away on Wednesday night at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where family sources say he was rushed for a heart-related condition.
Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, Editor of The Statesman newspaper and a relation of the late Danny Ofori-Atta, who confirmed the death, described him as an achiever who was full of ideas.
Danny Ofori-Atta was the running mate of Dr. Edward Mahama of the People’s National Convention in the 2004 Elections after the EGLE and PNC entered into an electoral alliance.
Dr. Mahama told Joy FM that he was shocked to hear of his former running mate’s death, for only a couple of weeks ago, he visited him in hospital where he looked strong enough to recover.
He said Danny had hinted at seeking care abroad but was strong enough to talk about politics. He described his death as a great loss to the country.
Dr. Mahama said Danny Ofori-Atta “has been very useful to the nation by way of his involvement in the lives of many Ghanaians” and expressed his condolence to the bereaved family.
“He left a legacy; the party and some beautiful bridges as monuments to his memory.”
