Dance your way to good health

There is little to no doubt that dancing is a very common activity among human beings.

As a matter of fact, there are some people whose lives depend on dancing. Dancing can simply be referred to as moving one’s body in response to music. One of the most commonly asked questions concerning dancing is, “Why do we dance in the first place?”

People dance for all kinds of reasons such as to mourn, to celebrate, to heal, to give thanks, to preserve cultural heritage, to assert individuality, to provoke and to entertain. Dance springs from a human desire for personal expression and social connection and it feels good.

Perhaps, dance is a way we express ourselves when words are insufficient. The joy we feel over a new job, new found love or attaining something great. It is a medium through which we show the world who we truly are and who we can be.

People also dance to relive the fun-filled days of their youth. Almost anyone can dance, regardless of age or ability. Why do we dance? Every answer will be different as it should be.

There is more to dancing than the fun-filled aspect. Dancing is also known to be beneficial to our health. The physical, mental and emotional health benefits of dancing are endless, that’s one thing for sure.

Dance is a great form of physical exercise and anyone can practice it safely at any age. It is very good for our health. Researchers suggest that dancing lowers the chances of heart and blood vessel diseases. It improves posture and weight, brings down stress as well as reduces tension.

A lot of research also shows how dancing can maintain and boost the ability to think as one age. According to some studies, scientists have found that areas of the brain that control memory and skills, such as planning and organising improve with exercise like dancing. This implies that dancing improves brain function. It helps in better coordination, agility and flexibility.

Besides boosting self-confidence and self-esteem, it can also help with social skills. Most fitness clubs now offer dancing classes as it’s a great way to keep fit and active while enjoying your dance.

Dancing is fun. Really fun. Here’s the good news. It is one of the cheapest ways for one to improve upon his or her health. No one has to lose a pesewa before being able to dance. Feel comfortable and dance your way to good health.
