Cybervergent, Nigeria's leading cybersecurity firm, is proud to support the Ghanaian Child Online Protection (COP) Framework launched by the country's Cyber Security Authority (CSA).

This initiative, unveiled by Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, as part of the National Cybersecurity Challenge 2024, aims to raise cybersecurity awareness among young people, focusing on students.

Adetokunbo Omotosho, CEO of Cybervergent, highlighted the initiative's importance, stating, "As more Ghanaians deepen their interactions on social media, expand e-commerce activities and generally adopt Internet of Things to innovate and optimise enterprise, they are faced with increasing cybersecurity threats from cyber-criminal seeking to steal and harm unsuspecting users.

Indeed, as internet usage becomes increasingly widespread in daily life, the need to protect minors online has become critical.

The framework seeks to establish comprehensive policies, robust legal structures, and targeted public awareness campaigns that educate children, parents, and educators on navigating the internet safely.

By addressing the vulnerabilities young people face in the online space, the framework will prevent child exploitation, abuse, and cybercrime.

The National Cybersecurity Challenge 2024, a crucial part of these activities, encourages interactive competitions for Senior High School students, with winners receiving prizes like tech gear and gadgets. The initiative aims to spark interest in cybersecurity careers while offering seminars, workshops, and classes to enhance youth participation in tech nationwide.

Omotosho further emphasised that the support affirms that the company's inroads into the Ghanaian market go beyond providing world-class tech and AI-backed cybersecurity solutions to businesses and corporations.

It is about supporting the government and other relevant authorities to deal with digital threats amid the country's rapid technological growth, addressing the growing need for cybersecurity education and awareness, especially among the youth. Through its three pillars—educate, empower, engage—Cybervergent is working to build a safer digital future for the next generation.
