The Convention People’s Party will mark the 60th anniversary of the formation of its Youth League this year.
A statement issued by its National Youth Organiser, Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr, said “In accordance, the National Youth Day, 21st February is planned to involve activities commemorating the diamond jubilee of the Convention Peoples´ Party.”
He noted that the CPP is the only political party with a day set aside for her youth in Ghana, explaining that the gesture confirms the youthful history of the CPP and the fact that she places a lot of importance on youth development. “No wonder it is only under the 1st Republic that Ghana had a national youth movement.”
Activities earmarked for the occasion include;
- A lecture under the theme: "The Youth and Politics in Ghana - the CPP perspective" on Thursday, 20th at the GNAT Hall by Hon Samia Nkrumah between 4:00pm and 7:00pm.
- A float through the Principal streets of Accra from Nkrumah Circle to the Mausoleum on 21st February from 6:00am to 10:00am.
- Press conference at the end of the float at 10:00am, Nkrumah Mausoleum.
- A soccer fiesta in the afternoon among the political parties with representation in parliament (NPP+NDC Vs. CPP+PNC). It is our expectation that this sport event will help work towards creating a national cohesion for rapid socio-economic development.
