Some members of the Convention People’s Party and the People’s National Convention have been agitating for their leadership to quicken the pace of merger talks between the two parties.
Earlier this month, the Northern regional executives of the PNC was criticized by the party leadership after they unilaterally formed an alliance with the CPP in the region.
A grouping of young CPP supporters known as Nkrumah Rising has also called on the leadership to quicken the merger talks and convene a joint congress immediately to seal the deal.
The latest to join the calls for a quicker merger is the CPP’s UK branch.
In a statement the branch executives called on the leadership of the two parties to move with haste to reach an agreement on unity in a matter of weeks.
Nii Ankrah who is the CPP UK branch chairman later told Joy News' Araba Koomson there is a lot of grass-root activities from the two parties craving for the merger.
He urged officials of the two leading parties to take a “leap of trust” and ensure that the dream of the grass root members is achieved.
