The newly elected leadership of the Convention Peoples’ Party, CPP, has promised the party’s followers that it will provide a “firm, decisive and fair leadership that is inclusive of everyone’s interests.” The leadership has therefore urged all supporters to hold fast to the moving CPP Train and to be firm in their conviction that a new CPP has been born and the CPP is in the 2008 race to win and we will contest as a unique political party with a clear and distinct alternative for the people of this country. The admonishing was contained in a statement issued by the party leadership on Monday. Below is the full statement signed by the Publicity Committee Chairman Designate of the CPP, Kosi Dedey. LET US, TOGETHER REBUILD THE CPP (A call to all CPP members to hold fast to the moving CPP Train) The newly elected leadership of the Convention Peoples’ Party wishes to once again thank all members of the party for the confidence reposed in them. The leadership assures all members that it will provide firm, decisive and fair leadership that is inclusive of everyone’s interests. The Leadership therefore urges all members to rally behind all newly elected officials to build a new and stronger Convention People’s Party at the Ward, Constituency, Regional and National level to make us elect able in the 2008 general elections!. Since assuming office on the 4th of January 2008, Leadership has held consultative meetings and received lots of useful advice from many ordinary members throughout the Country. The Leadership is indeed grateful for these inputs and will make use of them. The General Secretary has since issued guidelines for Operational management of CPP offices and/or stewardship of CPP officials to all executives at Regional, Constituency, and Ward level. In this communiqué the General Level also asked for key information that will serve as building blocks for our strategic plan of action. General members are urged to contact their respective Constituency Executives and make the desired inputs. Leadership values this process highly because it will restore once more to the Party, a sense of collective ownership from the grass roots up to the national level. Leadership also wishes to confirm that it is in consultation with the general membership as it considers the numerous Nominees and Volunteers for membership of the various statutory Committees, Spokespersons, National Campaign Team and other appointed Officers of the Party. It is expected that this vital process will be finally concluded soon. The conclusion of this process will permit us to have the full compliment of the Central Committee to greatly assist in the formulation of our strategic plan for action for the next four years and specifically a campaign strategy for the coming general election. In the interim leadership has endorsed the Flag bearer’s round country tour to meet and greet party functionaries, traditional leaders and organized groups around the country as this is important to the success of our campaign in the coming general election. The Chairman on behalf of the leadership therefore urges all officials and ordinary members of the party to support our flag bearer by joining in this activity at any given time and location. Information about scheduled events and visits are available from the General Secretary and Regional offices. The National Leadership wishes to thank Regional, Constituency, & Wards’ Executives for the enthusiastic assistance & excellent backing they have offered so far. The encouraging support our flag bearer, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom is receiving on his travels is clear testimony to the fact that victory is achievable. Key party functionaries and leading members of the party are further urged to continue to assist the interim Campaign Team as they continue to tour the Country until a formal National Campaign team has been formed. Leadership acknowledges the monumental task ahead and total commitment will be required from all members of the CPP to win political power come December 2008. Leadership is committed to providing the necessary support. It is also expected that the general membership will remain resolute in their loyalty to the party and work hard towards winning power. The CPP is in the race to win and we will contest as a unique political party with a clear and distinct alternative for the people of this country. The CPP is reborn!
