Jean Baudrillard, the author of "THE SPIRIT OF TERRORISM and Other Essays" quotes, Terrorism, like a virus is everywhere. The only difference is that Terrorists can be at one place at a time, but a virus can be everywhere at the same time. This is what separates the human terrorist from the ‘virus terrorists’ which is breaking immigration rules and entering borders of countries with no permission.
This virus doesn’t hold any passport, weapons, bombs or knives but very deadly and fiercely trying to kill anyone it comes into contact with. It has put fear and panic across the globe to an extent that Presidents and leaders are out of options in dealing with the virus. Some leaders have broken down crying and have lost control of handling this pandemic.
At the time of writing this article, there were over 850,000 coronavirus cases globally with over 42,000 deaths and over 176,000 people recovered. The WHO has termed the spread of this virus as pandemic. This virus has shut down the world, economic activity has come to a halt and it has affected the global stock market.
The fact is, Terrorism has existed for centuries and it has destroyed lives and cities for so long a time. However, the beginning of the millennium saw an increase in the number of terrorism acts across the globe. The highlight of terrorism in our generation in this 21st century was on the 9th of September 2001. The world came to a standstill after Al-Qaeda brought down the twin towers of New York.
Today, the world faces a new form of terrorism that is so swift and unique in its operation such that the world seems to lose focus on how to deal with the impact of this kind of terrorism. This new form of terrorism is what the world calls Coronavirus, but I call it the ‘’Ninja Terrorist’’. What probably many don’t know are the functions of a ninja which includes espionage, deception, and surprise attacks. My concentration is on the function of surprise attacks. I can say the attack of coronavirus comes as a surprise to individuals, groups and nations. A virus that cannot be seen with the naked eyes but powerful than human terrorists that you can see and engage.
The main difference between the ‘’Human Terrorist’’ and ‘’Ninja Terrorist’’ is their mode of operation. The former leaves outside the body and the later lives inside the body. You can negotiate with the human terrorists, but you cannot negotiate with the ninja terrorists. This is how dangerous the Ninja Terrorists can be. They have total control of the human race and they are spreading at a rate where man has lost control in curbing it’s spread.
There are so many conspiracy theories derived from this virus spread. Some say it is the Chinese attack on America and the rest of the world to rule, the virus is a man-made bioweapon, black people don’t get the virus, the sun kills the virus etc. The list goes on and on. Whether there is a conspiracy theory to this virus invasion or not, the fact remains the same and that is, the coronavirus is on an invasion to destroy the human race and we must find an antidote to this Ninja Terrorists destroying lives at the speed of light.
There are two main players that people are banking their hope to help solve this pandemic and that is the Scientists and God. I believe in the two. The difference is that it is God that gives wisdom to the scientist to operate. This pandemic has taught us one thing and that is, upon all the technological advancement and innovation the world is experiencing, this pandemic has exposed us to show that the human race is still limited in our thinking. For months that this pandemic started in Wuhan, China, we still haven’t found a cure or a medicine that can kill this virus.
This is where in my personal opinion the God factor comes. If we have done it alone with our thinking and wisdom and there is no solution, then we need to engage God to be part of the solution. We need to bring God back into the equation of mankind where we will seek his face and make him the CEO and board of director of our lives and nations.
The fact is, what lessons can we draw from this pandemic? The first lesson is how Covid-19 has humbled the world. This virus is no respecter of person, it does not discriminate, and it attacks anyone it picks and chooses. Considering Prince Charles and Boris Johnson getting the virus should tell you that the coronavirus is here to level the status of everyone. I call it coronavirus the leveller. I want to personally tell you that, you need to be humble. You are not better than the thousands dying. Therefore, stop this arrogance as in our generation, today you are alive and tomorrow you are gone. Death is now rampant, and it happens to children, young people and the old.
Another lesson is that it is time to draw closer to God. Most countries and people have turned away from God. Schools have taken God away from children. The human race thinks they don’t need God and such they do things based on their capacity.
We have to start practising what is in 2nd Chronicles 7:14 which states that, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
The last question I want to ask you is when you die, where will you go, heaven or hell? The choice is yours.
I will end by saying kudos to all health workers that are working 24 hours, leaders thinking to find solutions, scientists working around the clock to find a solution and to all those people adhering to simple instructions to help curb this pandemic. Stay safe, stay home and adhere to all the precautionary measures by the WHO and your country of residence.
