The use of facemask coupled with personal hygiene amidst the novel coronavirus pandemic has become the most effective ways to prevent the spread of the virus.
However, Ghana in recent times has seen a rapid surge of Covid-19 cases due to the massive disregard of the use of facemasks.
A survey conducted by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on the adherence of the general public in wearing of facemasks in the Greater Accra Region revealed that the majority of the populace either wear the facemask incorrectly or ignore to wear it.

The research was conducted in 6 districts which include Ayawaso West, Ayawaso East, Accra Metropolitan Area, Ablekuma Central, Ga West and Korle Klottey.
According to the survey, 42% of the Ghanaian populace wear their facemasks correctly.
The data also shows that 36% wear the facemask incorrectly while 22% do not wear the face mask at all.
Health experts have raised several concerns at the lacklustre approach many of Ghanaians have taken to wearing the facemask.
Whiles others have asked the government to impose tighter restrictions. some have also called for a lockdown.
Currently, Ghana has recorded 772 new cases. This brings our total number of confirmed cases to 67,782.
According to GHS, the countries death toll is currently 424.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has issued a directive to security officials to apprehend all persons who fail to wear facemasks in public spaces or gatherings.
