An Asamankese Circuit Court has granted GH¢500 bail to a 32-year-old chainsaw operator, Samuel Cofie, for allegedly injuring his wife Happy Omadzokpe in a fight.
Cofie pleaded guilty to causing harm to Happy Omadzokpe and would re-appear on June 24.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Charles Okerey said the accused and his wife lived in the same room at Obooho near Suhum.
He said on June 3, this year a quarrel ensued between the couple which developed into a fight and they were separated, however, they resumed the fight shortly afterwards during which the wife picked a cutlass but her husband held it.
The prosecutor said Cofie pulled the cutlass and inflicted serious injuries to his wife’s right hand and two fingers. She bled profusely and was rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.
He said Cofie was arrested and handed over to the police and after investigations charged with the offence.
