The Finance Minister-designate, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has rubbished criticism that he is a political flirt.
The former governor of the Bank of Ghana and a member of the Convention People’s Party, has after his latest nomination come under attack for accepting to serve in more than two different governments.
In an interview with Joy FM on Wednesday, Dr Duffuor said although he was not a member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), he accepted the nomination for minister because the country should be paramount.
Dr Duffuor was deputy governor of the Bank in 1995 under the Rawlings-led administration and appointed governor in 1997. He worked in the erstwhile NPP government in different capacities.
He discounted suggestions that the CPP would be unhappy about his willingness to work with the NDC, stressing the two parties have a common ideology.
Dr Duffuor said the country is in a situation requiring strategic management and that partisan politics would negatively affect the economy.
