A banker and consultant, Dr Kofi David Wuaku, has officially filed his nomination to contest for the position of Council of State representative for the Volta Region.
Speaking to the media after completing the filing process, he unveiled his ambitious vision for the region, pledging to leverage his extensive expertise and networks to drive development, create jobs, and establish the Volta Region as a hub of innovation and growth.
With a distinguished career spanning 20 years at the Bank of Ghana and nearly a decade as a consultant across various sectors since 2014, Dr Wuaku brings vast experience in financial management, investment advisory, and developmental consultancy.
He believes these skills uniquely position him to tackle the developmental challenges facing the region.
“Having spent years advising stakeholders in the financial and investment sectors, I have built a network of investors ready to collaborate with us to drive economic growth in the region,” Dr Wuaku stated.
“These networks span agro-processing, manufacturing, and other key industries that can create jobs for the youth and bring prosperity to our communities.”
Dr Wuaku highlighted his plans to establish a scholarship program to train young people in information technology (IT), a sector he believes holds the key to the region’s future.
“The future of the world is IT, and I am determined to position the Volta Region as a hub for IT innovation,” he noted.
“Through this scholarship scheme, we will equip our youth with the knowledge and skills to excel in this rapidly evolving sector, thereby securing a brighter future for the region.”
The scholarship program will be structured as a competitive initiative, with beneficiaries selected annually from each district and municipality in the region through examinations.
A loyal member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since June 1992, Dr Wuaku assured assembly members, grassroots organisations, and government appointees of his commitment to aligning the region’s development with the broader vision of an NDC-led government.
“I recognise the wisdom in the Constitution that assembly members vote for the Council of State representative. They are the people on the ground who understand the needs of our communities,” Dr Wuaku stated.
“As your representative, I will maintain open communication, hold regular meetings, and remain accessible day and night to ensure that the concerns of the people reach the highest levels of government.”
Dr Wuaku’s transformative agenda includes attracting investments to establish agro-processing factories and other industries aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities.
He promised to work tirelessly to deliver tangible results, emphasising his commitment to economic empowerment and infrastructural development.
“My vision is to change the face of the Volta Region. Together, we will build factories, create jobs, and implement innovative projects that will uplift our communities.
"This is not just a dream; it is a commitment to making the Volta Region a model of progress and development,” he affirmed.
Dr Wuaku appealed to assembly members to trust in his vision and elect him as the Volta Region’s representative to the Council of State.
He expressed confidence in his ability to deliver results, citing his decades of experience and dedication to grassroots development.
“As someone who has been deeply involved in the development of this region and our party for decades, I understand the challenges and opportunities we face,” he stated.
“I am ready to serve, and I promise to work tirelessly to bring the change we all desire.”
