The Anglican Bishop of the Koforidua diocese has bemoaned the continuous increase of corruption and indiscipline in Ghana.
The Right Reverend Felix Odei Annacy lamented the deafening silence in tackling the canker which he believes is denting the country's image globally.
He said "Corruption is just the case of stealing from the poor. And we have Christians involved in these corrupt acts every day. It is an undeniable truth that indiscipline is the root cause of corruption in Ghana.
“If we will be disciplined from our homes as we said charity begins at home, our discipline will be backed by the good morals and values that the Bible preaches and that the rate at which corruption increases in the country, will also decrease significantly,” he added.
The Anglican priest noted that many countries across the world including Ghana have failed to develop and continue to wallow in poverty because they have failed in dealing drastically with the menace.
He was addressing the first session of the thirteenth synod of the Koforidua Anglican diocese at Kwabeng in the Atiwa district of the eastern region.
He stressed "Corruption is one of the most distractive impediments to our socio-economic growth and development as a country. To be very honest with you, my dear friends, we are not in the times where we saw corruption as a matter of exception anymore.
“In these times it is inherently toxic and prevailing in every sector of our country. This affirms by the series of exposes done by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas,” he explained.
While criticising the failure of authorities to deal ruthlessly with corruption and indiscipline, Rt. Rev Odei Annancy commended ace investigate Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas for staying resolute in his corruption exposes.
"I commend journalists who have still not bow to our system and are continually exposing indiscipline and corrupt people. They give us a lot of hope,” he stated.
