The Eastern Region Police has arrested a policeman and his civilian accomplice over a fuel filling station robbery that happened a month ago.
Corporal Ghasty Yaaya Seidu, 37, with service number 43255, was arrested at Akosombo, while Seth Kpornyo Dodzi was picked up at Somanya on April 26, 2018, following police intelligence.
The two suspects were arrested for their practical involvement in the robbery incident which occurred at Okwenya Shell Fuel Station on March 26, 2018.
The two are also suspected to be involved in other robbery situations already under investigations.
A search conducted in the room of the policeman led to the retrieval of a pistol with two magazines and three 1.8mm ammunition, an axe, a knife, three paper spray cans, ten wrist watches, a pair of handcuff and a bayonet.
Another search in the room of suspect Seth Kpornyo Dodzi at Trom, a suburb of Somanya, revealed 19 live cartridges.
Victim Kudjo Akakpo, 42, sustained severe wounds during the robbery incident at Okwenya Shell Fuel Station.
The victim, according to the police, is recovering from his injuries.
The two suspects have been placed in police custody while investigations continue.
