The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has donated an amount of GH₵ 30,000 to the chef Abdul-Razak Failatu to assist in covering for the bills incurred during her attempt to break the Guinness World Record in a cook-a-thon
The Northern Regional Minister Shani Alhassan Saibu, donating on behalf of the Vice President, stated the chef's decision to hold the cooking-a-thon in the Tamale will put the region on the map and prove that the region has so much to offer in terms of hospitality.
“We are here on our behalf and behalf of his excellence the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and behalf of His excellence and flagbearer of my party Dr Mahamaudu Bawumia. He has asked us to make a donation on his behalf because duty has taken him out of the country.
“We are here to make a donation of GH₵30,000 from the Vice president to aid her in her ambition to break the Guinness World Record," he said on January 1, 2023.
Mr Saibu said his goodwill message and wished Chef Failatu set a new record that would be very difficult for others to break.
Chef Failatu’s attempt at the longest cooking marathon by an individual began on New Year, 2024.
She aims to cook for an astounding 120 hours to break the current Guinness cook-a-thon record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes.
She is attempting this feat at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale.
