The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) says contributors who fail to merge their SSNIT numbers with their national IDs by the end of December 2021 will not be able to access pension-related services.
This is a legal requirement captured in Regulation 7 (1) of the National Identity Register Regulations, 2012, L.I. 2111, which requires the use of the Ghana Card for "transactions pertaining to individuals in respect of pension".
SSNIT has begun integrating its ID platform with that of the National Identification Authority in compliance with a directive from the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA).
Director-General of SSNIT, Dr John Ofori-Tenkorang, explains "the Trust has created avenues to simplify the process for customers and new entrants adding the integration will help fast track adjudication processes, enabling prompt settlement of claims".
The process of merging the two identification numbers will continue until December 31, 2021.
This means that from January 1, next year, SSNIT contributors will no longer use their scheme numbers but will transact all business with SSNIT with their Ghana Card.
Here are the simple steps to follows to merge your SSNIT ID with your Ghana Card.
